Constitution 2007/2008

Season 2007/2208 will see the new addition of ‘South’ and ‘North’ divisions for the 5 th tier of the GWAFL. With New Haw’s reserve team competing in the North division alongside teams in the surrounding area.

The 1 st team remain in the 1 st Division after their debut in Div 1 saw them finish 7 th for the 2006/2007 season.

The 2007/2008 season reunites New Haw with most of the teams they have played before, including two teams that have been relegated from the Premier division – Shalford ‘A’ and Weybrook Wanderers. Previous encounters with both these teams have come via cup competitions, a loss and a win respectively.

Promoted teams from the lower leagues include Pirbright Sports, Border & Heath End and Hersham Reserves. Hersham’s reserve side being the only team we have not come up against before. A full list of teams making Div 1 is below:

The reserves will be up against 5 new teams in the new 4 th Div North league after their debut season saw them finish a respectable 9 th place, with some wins and top performances against the more established sides.

The reserves will also play against teams they have met before in the shape of Byfleet, Woking Park & Horsell and Bedfont Green ‘C’.

New Haw Wanderers Season 2007/2008

Dear Wanderer,

Thank you for your support during 2006/07. As I said last year the season would be a challenge, the season saw the successful launch of the reserve team and the first team staying in the 1st division. It has been a hard season for all players with no silverware. In saying that I think we can all still be proud of our achievements. And look forward to next season.

With that in mind their will be a number of changes which are detailed in this bulletin.

1) I feel we have enough numbers to field 2 teams, but we still require new players of high standard. If you have any friends that wish to play, please bring them down at pre season training for a trial. The 2 main points are they must be able to play every Saturday and be good enough to play for the first team.

2) Money for games has to be paid before the game, No Money you may be placed on the bench.

3) At this point I would like to give a special thanks to Mark Collins who has struggled all season but has kept the reserve team going. As of next season Mark has other commitments. I am please to announce that Tim Vince will be assisting Mark as joint reserve team managers.

4) Training will be different this year, I will be using Dan Smith’s knowledge and training idea’s to focus on actual game scenarios. This will require everyone coming training and as you will see its going to save you money by attending, as there will be fines for non-attendance without a good reason.

5) At present I am looking at training in the winter being either on a Tuesday or a Wednesday. It will start at 7pm and hopefully we will have the whole pitch at Salesion School Chertsey.

6) Please let me know as soon as possible, preferably with some cash if you wish to play next season.
